Our History

"FVDES provides engaging and varied distance learning experiences based upon the individual needs of the learner."

Mission Statement

Founded in 1990, Fraser Valley Distance Education School is one of the largest schools in a provincial consortium of nine distance education schools located throughout British Columbia. FVDES has it roots in the traditional, print-based correspondence distance education. It was also one of the first schools to provide online learning in the province via the New Directions in Distance Education (NDDL), and later the CoNNect program.  Since that time, we have continued to support all aspects of course delivery and now have over 4000 learners of all ages.

Since our inception, FVDES has always strived to address the changing needs of learners. We offer an unsurpassed program of print and online course offerings and we are continuing to update existing ones and create new courses each year. To support this growth, school staff has grown from seven to now over fifty.
