About FVDES Dennis Miller Position: Essentials of Mathematics 10, 11 and math support teacher Hello! I teach Essentials of Mathematics 10 and 11 at Fraser Valley Distance Education. I am also the Mathematics and Science tutor at Fraser Valley Distance Education. I graduated from University of Alberta with a Bachelors of Education with a Mathematics Major and a General Science Minor. I was born and raised in Lesser Slave Lake, Alberta. While in Edmonton, attending University, I met and married my wife. I have worked a large variety of jobs before and after graduating from university including: oil field maintenance, service rig operator, carpenter, electrician helper, farmer, hardwood floor installer, painter, truck swamper, and many more. I have taught students Science and Mathematics at all levels from grade 7 to graduation; namely, Mathematics 7 – 12 (essentials, applied and pure strands), Science 7 – 10, Chemistry 11 and 12, Biology 11 – 12, and Physics 11. While teaching in the private school system I also taught English 8 - 9, Socials 8 - 9, Photography 7 - 9, Physical Education 8 – 9, and Technology 9. I worked at Highroad academy for four years; I taught in Vedder middle School for three years and also Sardis Senior Secondary School for nine years. I am currently in the process of working my way through Simon Fraser University to obtain a Masters of Education. I now look forward to working with students in the exciting world of distance learning. « Back |
