About FVDES

Michael Haworth

I am part of the Fraser Valley Distance Education School team as a Grade 6 and Information Technology 8 to 10 teacher, and loving every second of my work! Previously, I was the lead Information Technology 7 to 9 teacher at Vedder Middle School in Sardis, B.C.. My post-secondary work included receiving a B.Ed. (Elementary) from the University of Calgary with a focus in Social Studies and Computer Applications in Education. I have also been involved in the Simon Fraser University TLITE (Teaching and Learning in an Information Technology Environment) certificate program as both a student and mentor. I was very fortunate to be a Prime Minister's Award for Teaching Excellence winner for my work with distance and distributed learning at FVDES.

I thoroughly enjoy working with all students and “going the extra mile” to help children to be the best that they can be. I am very actively involved in providing fully featured, interactive, engaging synchronous and asynchronous online curriculum for my Grade 6 and Information Technology distance education courses. I am very privileged to be working at FVDES with a group of highly motivated staff, and want to share my love of teaching and learning with students in the very dynamic, exciting world of Distance Education.

I welcome any questions you have by either contacting me via e-mail at mhaworth@fvdes.com or by telephone at 1-800-663-3381 Extension 2458.
