About FVDES

Mr. Robert Bridge

My name is Robert Bridge and I teach the online versions of Biology 11, Biology 12, Chemistry 11, and Chemistry 12 at Fraser Valley Distance Education School.

I graduated from the University of British Columbia with a BSc. degree in Agriculture. After graduation, I moved to Chilliwack and worked in the agricultural industry for 2 years, then decided to return to UBC for one more year to earn my teaching certification. I began teaching at Sardis Secondary School in Chilliwack in 1984, and worked there until 2005.  Over the past 20 years, I have taught Science 8, 9, and 10, Agriculture 11 and 12, and Biology 11 and 12.  While at Sardis, I was Head of the Science department for many years, and sponsored many student clubs, such as the Outdoors Club, Cycling Club, Olympics of the Mind, boys’ soccer, etc.  I especially enjoyed taking students on field trips and expeditions outside of school. I have taken groups of students to the Bamfield Marine Station, West Coast Trail, Bowren Lakes, Stein Valley, and, most recently, two exchange trips to China.

Teaching online is an exciting challenge and I am enjoying constantly reviewing and updating course materials to provide a dynamic, interactive and student-friendly learning environment.  Science is the foundation of many diverse career opportunities and is a fascinating subject that provides answers to questions about the world around us.  Please feel free to contact me at anytime at rbridge@K12connect.ca
