Steve Hayes

I feel privileged to be joining the incredible staff at Fraser Valley Distance Education School this year. I have been teaching for about 15 years and have spent the last 4 working in the ever-changing world of distance education. Teaching in distance education schools has allowed me to combine two of my favorite activities - teaching and technology. During my time in distance education, I have traveled into remote communities in the Yukon and BC. Before entering the world of distance education, I taught in small rural schools in northern B.C. and large elementary schools in the Okanagan.

I graduated from Simon Fraser University in the late 80's with a Bachelor's of Education degree with a minor in Learning Disabilities. I returned to school to complete an Adult Education Diploma at The Unverisity of British Columbia in 1993 and a Masters of Education Degree at The Unversity of Victoria in 2000. Prior to this I even completed a Level C welding program.  I believe that education is a life long journey and does not just happen in school.
