Although I was born in St. Walburg, Saskatchewan,
at six weeks of age, I moved to teh Okanagan where I remained
until continuing my post-secondary education, which resulted
in moves to Kamloops and then Victoria. I graduated received
my Bachelor of Education from the University of Victoria and
later attained a Post Bacclaureate Diploma in Technology in
Education from Simon Fraser University. I have three children
who range in age from 5 to 25 and am proud
of all of them.
As an educator for 19 years, I have taught kindergarten
through grade 7 and provided leadership in both gifted education
and integrating technology into other curriculum areas. I
have enjoyed coordinating alternate education experiences
through outdoor education, distance learning, helping to
create individual programs for students with different learning
styles and rates, and through creating online projects and
communities. I have taught in a regular classroom, taught
computers in elementary schools, ran a gifted program, and
been a district curriculum coordinator. I am currently enjoying
the challenges of teaching grade 5 at Fraser Valley Distance
Education School. I value the importance of relationships
with both my students and “home facilitators” and
look forward to a rewarding and successful school year this
year.
I enjoy camping, scrapbooking, hiking, and spending time
with friends and family. |
