Music theory explains why things sound the way they do and organizes music into clearly defined areas. This course helps students gain a deeper understanding of the importance of theory as it affects guitar instruction and performance. Ear training is another facet which is enhanced along with theory. As students develop a higher level of listening, they will be able to respond in a more sensitive way to their performance and hear subtle differences in music. Improvising is the ability to make up musical phrases instantly. A basic introduction to each of these areas of music (theory, ear training, and improvising) is taught in this course. You must have a guitar for this course.
