Elementary Program Overview

Eligibility

A person is eligible to enroll in the Elementary Distance Education program provided they:

  • Are at least school-age (5 years of age by December 31st of the current year)
  • Must have a dedicated adult at home to act as a home-facilitator

 

Elementary Program Overview

The FVDES K-7 elementary program provides students with a British Columbia Ministry of Education approved public school education. We welcome students from all over British Columbia, as well as BC families that are traveling abroad. 

 

Our K-7 program offers a superb educational experience for students across BC, including those:

  • Wishing to complete their education at home
  • Seeking teacher direction and curricular materials provided while at the same time having some room for flexibility
  • With unique learning needs (learning assistance, special education, gifted)
  • Unable to attend school
  • With challenging schedules (athletes, performers, etc.)
  • Traveling

 

In addition, we offer:

  • A complete and robust curricular program that can be tailored to fit your needs
  • Field trips and activity days
  • Educational allotment and internet reimbursement
  • A variety of online subscriptions (including Big Universe, All the Right Type, RAZ Kids)
  • Learning assistance and special education services
  • Opportunities for virtual classes (including classes with the Royal Tyrrell Museum for 2017/18)
  • K-4 - Spring outdoor education and art at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve 
  • 5-7 - Special field trips TBA
  • Ongoing teacher support, evaluations, and term reports

 

NEW!!! IGNITE Blended Learning Grades 5 – 7

FVDES is pleased to offer IGNITE, a blended learning program at Fraser Valley Distance Education School for students in grades 5 – 7. Students attend FVDES one morning per week for learning in a variety of areas, including AMAZING hands-on learning in robotics, engineering, and art, as well as topics in health education, career education, and social studies. In combination with IGNITE, each student learns at home with a home facilitator (usually a parent or grandparent) through the FVDES distributed learning program. For more information, click HERE.
