Secondary Program Overview


The FVDES Secondary program offers a high level of flexibility while providing a British Columbia Ministry of Education approved curriculum in over fifty courses.


The high degree of choice provided by our course selection enables students to:

  • Enroll as full time students with FVDES
  • Enroll as a part-time student
  • Take individual courses
  • Complete courses at their personal pace (one year maximum duration).

FVDES is able to meet the diverse needs of our students!


Adult Learners Graduated and Non-Graduated

Looking to graduate, interested in upgrading?

Our supportive staff will help you work towards achieving the grades you want with our personalized learning environment and flexible deliver approach.

Non-graduated Adult Students

You can take select Grade 10-12 courses for FREE with FVDES in order to complete your graduation requirements. Our supportive staff will help you work towards adult graduation with our personalized learning environment and flexible delivery approach.

Graduated Adult Students Free Courses!

Adult Students (over the age of 19) wishing to upgrade are encouraged to register for a variety of FREE and TUITION-BASED online courses offered by FVDES. Tuition-free courses include (effective Sept 1, 2017):


- Communications 11/12
- English 11/12
- First Peoples English 12
- Biology 11/12
- Chemistry 11/12
- Physics 11/12
- Apprenticeship and Workplace Math 11
- Foundations of Math 11
- Pre-Calculus 11/12
- Calculus 12

We provide flexibility and choice in education to meet a wide variety of learning needs for students:

  • Who are British Columbia residents
  • Wishing to complete their education at home
  • Unable to attend school
  • Traveling
  • With challenging schedules (athletes, performers, etc.)
  • Who wish to add to their existing educational programs
  • Have graduated and want to upgrade
  • Wish to develop other interests/skills


Students enrolled in courses at FVDES:

  • Receive resource materials (refundable deposit may be required)
  • Subject-specialist teachers in all courses
  • Access to a broad range of resources
  • Facilitates interactivity between students, parents, and teachers
  • Online learning environment (online courses only)
    • Virtual online classroom to provide: 
      • Large group instruction
      • One-on-one tutorials
    • Use of an integrated program of email, discussion groups, online testing, and online grades is available to students at all times

Students at FVDES may also receive:
