The famous Wagner stamp set was one of the first to be produced by Nazi Germany.

Wagner held a special place in Nazi cultural politics. Wagner's 19th century racism and anti-semitism made him a perfect fit for the Nazis, and helped to sell the argument that the Nazis were part of a larger cultural tradition. Here we see representations of Wagner's famous operas, especially his famous Ring Cycle. These operas helped Wagner resurrect Germany's interest in its own mythical (and pagan) past, and became a useful propaganda tool for the Nazis.
