Foundations and Pre-Calculus 10 is a continuation of junior level mathematics. It is designed to provide students with the mathematical understanding and critical-thinking skills identified for post-secondary studies. By the end of Foundations and Pre-Calculus 10, you will be prepared to decide whether to continuing along the Foundations pathway or the Pre-Calculus pathway for Grade 11.
It is recommended that you have completed Math 9 prior to registering for Foundations and Pre-Calculus 10.
All the resources that are required for the course are contained in the course.
Course Modules
Module 1: Numbers and Algebra - a focus on the big ideas that algebra allows us to generalize relationships through abstract thinking and that the meanings of, and connections between, each operation extend to powers and polynomials.
Module 2: Sequences, Functions and Relations - A focus on the big idea that representing and analyzing situations allows us to notice and wonder about relationships.
Module 3: Linear Functions and Systems - A focus on the big idea that constant rate of change is an essential attribute of linear relations and has meaning in different representations and contexts.
Module 4: Trigonometry and Finance - A focus on the big idea that trigonometry involves using proportional reasoning to solve indirect measurement problems.
